  • 8.8 gears etc.

I'm buying Krawlers axles and I need new gears and/or locker for the 8.8. The D30 up front has 4.88 gears and lock rite locker already. Also looking for brackets, spring perches, etc. to bolt it up.

Then next wanting to know who has good prices on tires 33 or 35's, haven't decided yet.

Also posted in wanted ads. Thanks in advance.

Someone mentioned before that I needed to get new gears because these were welded and because it was my DD that I may have some issues with this.

When it comes to this kinda stuff, I'm in the dark. I need a flashlight or 2 or 3...

you need new spider gears. possibly a new carrier my spiders are welded to the carrier and I've heard of a few other 8.8's being welded this way.

you can find em new online but they're really expensive. your best bet would be http://dallas.craigslist.org/pts/ or a junkyard. Or call some of the shops(Baertrax or CSP) and they might have some laying around if someone put a detroit or something in an 8.8.
You might want to make sure its just the gears that are welded and not the gears to the carrier.

Sorry if I lead you astray... the 8.8 ring and pinion gears (the 4.88s) will be fine. The carrier and/or the spider gears inside the carrier will need to be replaced, imho, since its welded and a DD.

If you want to go the locker route, I would look at lockers that replace the carrier, e.g., ARB, Detriot, Auburn Ected, Eaton Soft-locker, Eaton E-Locker.

If you want to go the open route, you may just need new spider gears. Or, you may be able to find a carrier/spider gears from some one who did a carrier replacement on their 8.8.

There are plenty of options out there, any of our sponsors will be able to give you a much more technical answers. I'd love to help with the install if you are planning on doing it yourself.

                Hope this helps.

Definitely will appreciate the help. I have learned on thing as I said before, when doing it youself you learn a lot. I know I did when I was doing my lift.

I just built my 8.8 and got the detroit from AT Fab. It was around 650 for the locker and only took two days to get it.
