  • Fast Friday at Texas Motorplex (Ennis) June 26th

I know we have a few speed/HP junkies in the group. I'm taking my LS3 Miata to the Motorplex on the 26th to face another LS Miata. I'll be on street rubber since I'll be driving rather than trailering b/c the Jeep will be loaded up for Gilmer the next day. Anyone interested in bringing out their tire smokers or watching a couple of hair dresser cars beat up on unsuspecting 'Hey Brahs'?

Hoping I don't get my butt kicked. I have about 100whp on him but mine is a six speed on narrow street tires. He's got an auto and stuffed some wider drag radials under bolt on flares. It's going to be all about getting the pwr down. I have half a mind to go pick up some 40 wear dot slicks for the rear. ...bc....Race HARD! ;)

Maybe bring em both, eh? The Surfer is a far bit better but it ain't no quarter miler. But I might be able to take a 4 cyl Honda or two. [emoji106]

My vote would be the Surfer too. Think of it as a data logging event prior to the trails.

You have to watch out for those pesky Hondas though. Some of them are the real deal. I underestimated one earlier this week. Took dropping into 3rd instead of staying in OD like I usually do when a fart can mobile mistakes the Miata for just another rice bowl. ...that was C6 level effort. Impressive.

Yep, some of those dang Hondas are pretty quick. I used to help guys make em that way, boring out throttle bodies and such. Had a friend with a little Si hatchback that surprised a 'Vette or three.

[nearly stock] Vettes and Vipers are my favorite prey. ;) ...but some of them are just stupid fast around here. Lots of big HP cars running around N. Dallas.

yup...I used True Street (http://www.truestreetmotorsports.com). They are nearby and their HP Tuner guy came highly recommended. He'll be checking and cleaning up the LS1 tune in the new Jeep very soon. ...with an emphasis on reliability and cool running, not HP.

The LS3 in the Miata is putting down 445 whp with the exhaust being the restriction right now. It has 1.5' short tube headers. I'll be getting some 1.75 long tubes that are application specific made by Kook this winter. It'll likely get a bigger cam at the same time since the motor pretty much has to come out for the header swap. I really want to see 500 at the wheels. ...just because. ...who needs traction anyway....
