  • Fossil Rim Wildlife Park

My wife and I drove thru Fossil Rim Wildlife Park last summer and had a blast. We did it in a Corvette. This summer we want to do it in the open Jeep. For anyone who hasn't been there. They need to go. For anyone who has been there before. They need to go back. The park is located right out of Glen Rose, Texas. I guess that is about an hour or more south of the DFW area. We are planning this now, so that maybe we could make a group ride through the park. We are planning this ride for Saturday August 10th. As long as it isn't raining. It is really fun feeding the animals. They come right up to the vehicles to be fed. The ride through the park takes between 1 1/2-2 hours. It will be fun. We plan to meet at the front office before 10am. Heading into the park at 10am. I hope others will join us for the ride. I would recommend running your doors. Or the animals will be trying to eat out of your lap. Had a ostrich stick its head in the window on the wifes side looking for the feed bag. Had a bull Elk try to stick his head in on my side. We had a blast.
Come one. Come all. We will see ya'll there. You won't be disappointed.
After the park, we can get together for lunch in town.
    Anyone interested.

I gathered from reading his post he is thinking August 10th. If I read it correctly I think he even mentioned 10am on that particular day. Did you need to know the moon phase or anything else more specific? ;)

I took the family a couple weeks ago. It was a blast. The only requirement for jeeps is that they have the doors on. Top can be down.

Took the family there 5-6 years ago. Great place to visit. Would definitely be a good time in a Jeep with the top off. My daughter still talks about the giraffe that ate from her hand. I don't think there is any muddy trails there, so we should be good to go! ;)

              Will try to make this.

DORBA (Dallas Off-road Mountain Biking Assoc) used to schedule a ride through day, through at least part of it. Getting a bunch of Jeeps there the same day would be fun. A little far to "drive" my Jeep to these days.

Now that's funny, I don't care who you are. (Muddy trails, I saw your mud post)

My jeep doesn't have the greatest road manners. I just drive a little slower.

I'll talk to my wife and see if she wants to join up. Took my son last summer in the Jeep and he had a blast! It is a good ways to drive the Jeep, but once a year isn't too bad. Took it to Cedar Creek Lake this past weekend and it did just fine. Even got 15.5 mpg on the way!

We went a while ago and had a blast! Feeding the wildlife was interesting, also about half point there is a petting zoo, restaurant, and store! We had a blast! A bit of advise though.....another time we tried to go was on a holiday weekend, don't go on a holiday! We wasted an hour in line to get halfway to the gate before we decided to turn around and visit other area parks.
