  • First time Jeep Owner - Project to boot!

Stupid typo. "First time jeep owner"!

I picked up an '89 YJ about 3 weeks ago for what I consider an excellent price. It of course needs work, but the wife is happy about the new toy and I am looking forward to making it something I will enjoy cruising around in.

We live in southeast Plano and both work.

I'm looking to do some cruising, light 4x4 and hunting out of the vehicle.

Thanks for checking me out and feel free to send me a message anytime!

    Mike

Always good to have some more squared headlight folks around, so welcome!

What kind of seats are those??

The vehicle was not very well cared for. Very little of the wiring is good and only the gas guage and speedometer work. Engine needs a rebuild or replacement. See the other thread that I have started.

Basically I want to make it a good off road/street legal toy.

The seats are a type of vinyl.

I will take some more pics and post them. Would love any advice/ideas for effective stuff to do to it.

Right now, I need to repair the top, put on the new bar padding that came with it, fix an issue in the steering column, aaaaannnddd rebuild the engine......

Welcome! We bought our first jeep just over a year ago - a 1987 YJ. My son and I have been having fun working on it and getting it ready for off road.
