I have a friend that lives outside Denver with a Jeep that I'd like to visit this summer. I would like to trailer my Jeep there but renting a UHaul trailer is too expensive to rent for week +long trip. Any other trailering options?

You could try calling this place: http://www.380trailers.com/rentals-p3998.asp
I've never used them, just seen the signs on the road.

I have looked into this as well. I will be trailering my rig to Moab/Colo this year and living in a neighborhood with no room for a trailer. I've thought about storing it but the monthlys are ridiculous. Buying plus storage I'd have to use the trialer 7 time to make it a good investment this year. Not going to happen. So I started calling around. Uhaul penske are all outrageous and depending on you're jeep may not fit on the trailer safely, tire width. So I called 380trialer and I dont think out of state travel was accepted. There's another group I called and they also shot me down on out of state travel. Found a guy on Craigslist renting a car hauler, sketchy. The thought of putting my 40k jeep on a trailer I don't know steers me back to ordering a trailer built for the task. Have not considered renting from a forum member as mentioned. Thoughts?

Give trailer width & length and rating your wanting to tow.
What dates ya need it and throw it out there.
There's folks here paying for storage on their trailers that probably wouldn't mind that trailer making a storage payment for itself.
I have leased my trailer out before with no issues.
There has to be an agreement that you will be responsible for any issues, flats, accidents or any breakage on trailer that may occur in route....nothing you wouldn't be responsible for if it was your own trailer.2000 TJ, 4.0, NV4500, Atlas 4.3, 06 Super Duty Diffs, D60/Sterling, ARBs, 5.38, 40” stickies, Weld on beadlocks, PSC full hydro steering, Vanco hydroboost, 16” King coilovers & King bumps, a radio that makes noise & a working Winch.

Consider maintenance... Condition of tires including spare/s. Condition of spares. General overall condition. Even well maintained, I still lost a bearing on the way back from picking up a load of hay a few weeks ago. I have no idea at what point of the trip it came apart. The wheel stayed on the trailer. I'm lucky that the load was light enough that sparks or enough heat to start a fire weren't generated. Riding the bad bearing ruined the spindle which means it now need a new axle. So in that scenario, who would have fiscal responsibility for the repairs? Tires...trailer tires are usually not designed for extended 70+mph speeds especially when loaded. When the tires blow because you feel fine running 80 who's responsible for the tires? And what if the blow out is significant enough to cause your load to be lost and people are injured? Of course logic says the driver pulling the trailer would be liable for injuries, but do you think for a moment a lawyer would not also go after the trailer's owner?
I'm sure its obvious I would not be a candidate for renting mine out. I have loaned it out before. ...to friends I trust. Knowing that even then it was at great personal risk.

I was in the exact same situation 4 years ago with a moab trip. Ended up buying a new trailer and I've been paying $50/mo storage ever since. I don't use it enough to justify the storage expense, but renting was such a pain before. Mainly because it added a business hours only errand to both sides of each trip.

When i went to MOAB, I split the rental cost of a 32' trailer with a friend of mine. We had two rigs on it and took turns driving. The cost for a 10 day rental was $375.00. I rented from a guy in south Dallas. He has several trailers and is a great guy to get to know. His name is Russell Hooper. His phone number is 214-566-1927.
Give him a call. If he still has the trailers, I assure you he will work you a deal.
